What acrylic render actually is

Acrylic render is a cement render with acrylic (a polymer) blended in. That polymer is the difference: it makes the finished surface flexible rather than brittle, so it moves a little with the house instead of cracking the moment the ground shifts or the frame settles.

It goes on as a topcoat — usually over a base coat on brick, blueboard, Hebel or foam — and can be finished smooth or with a fine texture. Because the colour is mixed through the product, you get an even, low-maintenance finish without a separate coat of paint.

Why Adelaide homeowners choose acrylic

Adelaide gives render a hard time — long hot summers, UV, and clay soils that move with the seasons. Acrylic handles all three better than a plain sand-and-cement finish. It’s more weather-resistant, it holds colour under our sun, and its flexibility hides the hairline movement that shows up on older, rigid renders.

It’s also the finish that gives a tired brick house that clean, modern, single-colour look most people are after — without the upkeep of repainting every few years.

Coloured-through, not painted

Coloured-through means the pigment is part of the render, top to bottom. A chip or a scuff doesn’t expose a different colour underneath, and you’re not locked into repainting to keep it looking sharp. There’s a wide palette to choose from, and Dino will talk you through what suits the house and the street.

FAQ

Acrylic Render — your questions

What is acrylic render?

It’s a cement-based render with an acrylic polymer blended in. The polymer keeps the finished surface flexible and weather-resistant, and the colour is mixed through the product so it doesn’t need painting.

Is acrylic render better than cement render?

Neither is simply ‘better’ — they suit different jobs. Acrylic is more flexible, more weather-resistant and comes coloured-through, so it’s the usual pick for a modern low-maintenance finish. Traditional cement render is breathable and strong, which suits some older homes and base-coat work. Dino will recommend the right one for your place.

Does acrylic render crack?

It’s far less prone to cracking than a rigid sand-and-cement finish because the acrylic lets it flex with normal house movement. Good prep, control joints and correct base coats matter — which is exactly what we get right on site.

Do you have to paint acrylic render?

No. Acrylic render is coloured all the way through, so there’s no need for a separate paint coat. You can paint it later if you ever want a colour change.
