What acrylic render actually is

Acrylic render is a cement render with acrylic (a polymer) blended in. That polymer is the difference: it makes the finished surface flexible rather than brittle, so it moves a little with the house instead of cracking the moment the ground shifts or the frame settles.

It goes on as a topcoat — usually over a base coat on brick, blueboard, Hebel or foam — and can be finished smooth or with a fine texture. Because the colour is mixed through the product, you get an even, low-maintenance finish without a separate coat of paint.

Do you have to paint acrylic render?

No. Acrylic render is coloured all the way through, so there’s no need for a separate paint coat. You can paint it later if you ever want a colour change.
